Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC 2025, is set to begin on June 9. The event, taking place in California, USA, will continue until June 13. The keynote on the first day will start at 10:30 PM Bangladesh time and will be streamed live on YouTube and other online platforms.

Although Apple has not officially announced any products yet, tech analysts believe this year’s WWDC will focus heavily on major software changes. In addition to announcements related to artificial intelligence, hints of some new hardware products are also expected. Here’s a look at what might be announced.

New Interface

Apple’s software designs are expected to undergo significant changes this year. According to tech analyst Mark Gurman, under an internal project named ‘Solarium,’ iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS interfaces are being refreshed. Users will see soft and rounded icons, transparent menus, and modern visuals. The last major redesign of Apple’s software interface happened in 2013 with the release of iOS 7.

New Names for Operating Systems

This year, Apple may change the naming convention of their software. Instead of the usual version numbers like iOS 19 or macOS 15, they might use year-based names such as iOS 2026 or macOS 2026. This change would make it easier for users to understand the update versions and align the software names with the calendar year.

Possible New Features

Along with design changes, iOS 26 may introduce several new features. These include easier Wi-Fi sharing between Apple devices, AI-based battery management, and the option to enable desktop mode on iPhones with USB-C ports. This will allow users to connect their iPhones to larger screens and use them somewhat like a computer. Meanwhile, iPadOS 26 might add a Mac-like menu bar at the top and improve the Stage Manager to make multitasking easier.

New App for Gamers

A new gaming app may arrive for gamers that will work seamlessly across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. It will essentially be an upgraded version of the Game Center. The new app will feature friends lists, leaderboards, and integration with Apple Arcade, enhancing the overall gaming experience.

Artificial Intelligence

Apple is also focusing this year on enhancing its artificial intelligence-based service, Apple Intelligence. Siri will be able to provide more relevant responses. A new health coaching tool may also be introduced. For developers, there will be new app programming interfaces (APIs) and tools that will make it easier to integrate Apple Intelligence features into third-party apps.

Hardware Announcements

Although WWDC is primarily a software-focused conference, Apple has unveiled new hardware at past events, such as the Vision Pro headset and new Mac computers in 2023. This year, the MacBook Air M4, iPad Air M3, and iPhone 16i have already been released, so the chances of major hardware announcements are slim. However, if Apple introduces a new Mac Pro with an M4 chip, it would likely be a developer-focused product.

There is also talk about a new device called the iPhone 17 Air, which could be the thinnest iPhone ever.
