Good news for Google Drive users. You no longer need to watch an entire video stored on Google Drive to understand its content. By using Gemini chatbot’s real-time video analysis feature, you can quickly get summaries and important information from videos stored on Google Drive. Until now, Gemini only provided automatic summaries of documents stored on Google Drive.
According to Google, the new feature called ‘Gemini in Drive’ can quickly analyze video files stored on Google Drive. As a result, users can directly ask the Gemini chatbot for a summary of the entire video or important information from specific sections. Even discussion topics, decisions, or instructions from meeting videos can be identified separately. This makes it possible to access necessary information without the hassle of watching the entire video.
To access important information in videos through Gemini, subtitles or captions must be enabled in the video. This feature can be used via Google Drive’s overlay previewer or by opening a new browser tab.
The new feature will initially be available only in English. Soon, it will be added not only to Google Drive but also to Google Workspace and the AI Premium version of Google One. However, Google has not officially announced when this feature will be publicly released.
